A Closer Look at lift kits
We compared lifts purely at a surface level of what parts they had or didn’t have. So let’s take a closer look at the smaller details in how they differ.
Now we can compare every measurement, every bolt, and every aspect of the lifts. But for the point of this page, we will be taking a look at some of the major advantages of different lift kits. We will also be trying to stay away from opinion-based things like overall ride quality.
Metal Cloak 3.5” Game Changer
8 adjustable control arms
Not all kits have 8 adjustable control arms. While being able to adjust the lowers control arm (LCA) is not always crucial, but it is nice to have the flexibility down the road if any changes get made. Different LCA brackets on your axle, a higher lift, or a slight stretch are some reasons you will need a longer LCA.
Layered bump stops
Metal Cloak bump stop kits all come as a 4 puck system. In the event that more or less bump stop is needed, it is as simple as adding or removing a puck. This can be helpful in the event that you go up in tire size, or find you can squeeze out a few more inches of flex.
Zinc plated parts
Some people love the gold and some people hate it. But it offers an advantage other than looks, as the zinc penetrates the metal enough to be rust resistant, even in the event of scratches.
Duroflex joints
These are one of the best quality joints on the market. It's durability, flexibility, and rebuildable qualities are the three things to consider on a good joint, and these hit all 3 qualities out of the park.
Rubicon Express 3.5” Super-Flex
Affordable
Take the cost of parts into consideration. If we did'n’t do this, we would all be rocking custom trailing arms. Rubicon Express’s simplicity gives a quality lift an affordable price. Is it the best kit out there? No. Does it get the job done well for almost all its owners? Yes.
Synergy MFG 3” Stage 3
Double nut adjuster
Synergy offers an adjustment sleeve on their control arms that allows all adjustments to be done with the jeep on the ground. It can always be a pain to unbolt an upper control arm (UCA) and try to get the bolt back through, so this can save a ton of time and headache.
Dual Durometer Bushing
This is another high quality joint that can cover the 3 important functions of a control arm joint. It is durable, flexable, and rebuildable.
Strong lower control arms
1-3/4”x0.188 DOM tube makes synergy LCA one of the stronger arms on the market. The thick side wall paired with a slightly larger tube size is a great combination.
